Meet chief mischief & candle maker

Jax McQueen

I’m a creator at heart, and always have been. In addition to candle-pouring and crafting, I’m a women’s fiction author pinning stories full of friendship, heart, and shenanigans. I also teach creative writing classes online to kids where I get to help young writers develop their voice.

When I’m not making candles, writing, or teaching, you can find me:

  • Coloring with alcohol markers
  • Line dancing at my favorite cowboy bar
  • Traveling wherever wonder calls
  • Checking my birth chart like it’s the weather report
  • Sipping sugar bombs disguised as coffee at quirky coffeeshops

My Story

Throughout my professional life, I’ve always referred to myself as a Jane-of-all-Trades, but as I grow older—in years, not in spirit—I’m realizing just how fitting that title is for my life as a whole.

With a B.A in Communications from UNC-Chapel Hill and an M.A in Interactive Media from Elon University, I’ve worn many hats—everything from front-end web design to adjunct professor to teaching children online. At different points in my life, I’ve relocated to Florida, embarked on a three-week solo rail trip across the U.S., and most recently, spent a year and a half living in a sunny Mexican beach town with only my tiny dog as my co-pilot. I’ve tried, abandoned, and returned to more ADHD hobbies than I can count: crocheting, coloring, podcasting, belly dancing, samba dancing, Brazilian Zouk, bachata…I could go on.

But even when everything else is in flux, these two things have always been true:

  1. I was born to express myself and connect with others through the written word.
  2. I’m always seeking the life that feels most like me.

I once wished I could be content with a “normal” life, but now, I embrace my creativity and ability to flow with life’s ups and downs. I used to beat myself up for being too sensitive and feeling so deeply, but I now realize that’s just one of my superpowers.

And I know I’m not the only one—that’s where The Cozy Rebellion Collective comes in.
